A castle from 14th century set next to the Vranov water-reservoir in front of the castle Bitov. It has a strategic position- west part of hill surrounded by the river Dyje from three sides close to former primeval settlement. Cornstejn was captured and burnt out by the emperor Jiri z Podebrad in 15th century. But lately, in 1542, it has been renewed in order to be prepared in case of Turkish invasion .When the dangerous passed away the company left the castle and in 1580 Cornstejn become empty. The present castle appearance is the result of wide reconstruction in 20th century. We may visit it only accompanied by a quide. The group can have 20 persons at most and the visit takes approximately 45 minutes. There is not a car park nearby; the closest car park is approx. one kilometre on the road to Bitov.
